This is at Pick 'n' Pay. We haven't had pork or bacon going on almost two months now because of hoof and mouth in South Africa, where pretty much all of the food is imported from.
You don't realize how much you miss bacon, or "streaky bacon" as they call it here, until you CAN'T HAVE IT!
Dulce de leche imported from Buenos Aires! Craziness. They even have flavors I never saw in BsAs -- orange dulce de leche, hazelnut, cinnamon. But I can tell you right now I never saw anything from Botswana on the shelves in Argentina.
The rest of these pics are from my other favorite grocery store, Woolworth's, a South African chain. Yes, they have Kraft Miracle Whip and Hellmann's mayonnaise! And a million other kinds of gourmet mayo and oils.
We really aren't lacking for too much; everything is imported up from South Africa, and there are many European products, too. There is honestly wayyy more variety here than there ever was in BsAs.

Love it! So it's not so bad food-wise as I've made it sound. Yet another reason to just cook at home. Well, with the addition of Craisins and other uniquely American products via Amazon.com :)

Are there any smokeless tobacco products in Gabarone. I know they have NTSU snuff in South Africa but when I cross the border I don't want to pay duty on itrowebyR. I'll be there from the US this year for 3 weeks in August.
